As the new highly urbanized city in Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City has invested millions of pesos to expand the city’s road system as an alternative to other expensive transport systems.
Mayor Arturo Radaza, who is ending his third and last term as mayor in June 2010, said the city has widened and rehabilitated roads.

The contest is open to all with photos taken during the Earth Hour in Cebu on March 27, 2010. Interested participants can send as many entries as possible provided that no entry has been entered in any competition.

The biggest Philippine flag was delivered yesterday to Liloan town in Cebu as a symbol of fostering unity in the country in ceremonies held at a vacant three-hectare lot.
The 330 feet by 660 feet flag occupied two hectares on the ground.
The huge banner made up of 14,900 yards of nylon taffeta will stay in Liloan until March 16.
It will be folded and later brought to Mactan Island, to coincide with the commemoration of the March 16, 1521 arrival of Spanish colonizers in the Philippines. More…
The new clean coal-fired power plant in Cebu is now operational.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo led the switched-on of the first of three units of the 246 megawatts power plant at barangay Daanlungsod, Toledo City, Cebu on March 5, ushering in the advent of a new and clean coal-fired power plant technology in Central Visayas.
Using the latest circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology, the project ensures proper discharge of commonly feared emissions and wastes of coal-fired power plants at practically negligible levels. Read more…

Cebu has emerged as the number one tourism destination in the Philippines for 2009, the official year-end report of the Department of Tourism (DOT) revealed.
Cebu ‘s total tourist traffic arrival for the year hit 1.61 million, a 1.2 percent increase compared to the figure recorded in the previous year.

In an interview with Sun.Star Cebu, Nikita Osharov, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Pelagos Tours and Travel, said, “Russian people don’t know much about the Philippines and to increase their awareness of the country and its people, we invited them to come here.”

The electronics industry had experienced tremendous growth in the Cebu market in the last eight to ten years, said Joel L. Pe, Silicon Valley president and chief executive officer.

Korean investor in Cebu are requesting for more flights from Korea and other foreign countries to Cebu to give boost to the already increasing number of tourist arrivals in the province and in the whole country in general.
Imperial Palace Waterpark and Spa General Manager Richie Kang said that they are hoping that the Department of Tourism would address the need for more flights coming in to Cebu.
Kang said during the weekly 888 news forum in Marco Polo Plaza Hotel that at present there are already flights from different airline companies like Korean Air however there is still a need for more. Continue…

With the first of three 82 megawatts (MW) capacity units expected to go online by Feb. 15, Cebu Energy Development Corp. (CEDC) reiterated its claim of using environment-friendly technology by announcing a long-term coal supply contract with PT Adaro.
